The seed of Vidyalankar was sown on the auspicious day of Dussehra in October 1960, when the visionary founder Late Prof. Chandrashekhar S. Deshpande launched his own A.M.I.E. classes in a rented class room. The inspiration behind the inception of Vidyalankar was the dedication of oneself to sincere academic pursuit and to satisfy the quest for knowledge in eager young minds. Vidyalankar Classes and Publications (incepted in 1960) has an emphatic presence in academic circles across Mumbai, Maharashtra and nationwide; and has won a number of prestigious awards for excellence in coaching and franchising. In 1974, Vidyalankar secured its own premises at Dadar, Mumbai.
Guided and inspired by Late Prof. Deshpande’s vision and his dedicated efforts, Vidyalankar has grown steadily over the years by establishing three colleges:
- Vidyalankar Institiute of Technology (1999)
- Vidyalankar Polytechnique (2002)
- Vidyalankar School of Information Technology
In the mission of Educating Young Minds, Prof. Chandrashekhar Deshpande was strongly supported by his wife Late Dr. Sanjeewani Deshpande, former Chairperson, Vidyalankar Dnyanapeeth Trust. She had a Ph.D. in English, an M.A. in English and an M.A. in Public Administration to her credit. She had more than 35 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both the domains of English and Public Administration. A passion for education and a student-oriented approach have been her hallmarks of excellence in teaching. She shared a global perspective on education and encouraged research and development activities among faculty and students.
