Dr. J. R. Toravi
Professor and Head of the Department
Biomedical engineers connect the medical and engineering disciplines providing an overall enhancement of health care through designing, building innovative devices and improving processes for genomic testing, or making and administering drugs. In 2011 the Bureau of Labor Statistics listed Biomedical Engineering as number one fastest growing occupations. The growing focus on health issues drives the demand for better medical devices and equipment designed by biomedical engineers particularly in pharmaceutical manufacturing and related industries. Biomedical engineers are for life. As the HOD, I am excited about the journey which will help forge strong partnerships with health sciences, and to grow the department into a mature program.
