Student Organizations are formed to draw together people of different ideologies, background to share information and coordinate actions. Biomedical Engineering Society of India – VIT Chapter (BMESI)

Student Committee

BMESI, a national level student chapter was formed to encourage, promote interdisciplinary co-operation among scientists, engineers, and medical doctors for the growth of teaching, research and practices of biomedical engineering.

Various activities conducted for the development and improvement of all aspects of biomedical engineering are stated below.

Workshop on ‘Arduino’

Basic workshop on Arduino which is an open source electronics platform based on easy to use hardware and software to make projects interactive was conducted by Mr. Dattaraj Sansgiri for the students.

Workshop on ‘LabVIEW’

Workshop on LabVIEW system design software was conducted by Prof. Arunkumar Ram to ensure the use of comprehensive tools to build any measurement or control application in dramatically less time for innovation, discovery, and accelerated results. The overview of the workshop was to combine the power of LabVIEW software with modular, reconfigurable hardware to overcome the ever-increasing complexity involved in delivering measurement and control systems on time and under budget.

Workshop on ‘Ventilators’

Hands-on workshop was conducted by Maquet Inc. on the topic ‘Ventilators’ for the students. Maquet is a renowned world-leading provider of medical systems for medically challenging interventions. This workshop was conducted by Mr. Vishwanath Joglekar and Mr. Mehul Damania.

‘Gab it to Win’ Event

The students organized the event which is the Instruments Identification Event where the students identified the various biomedical instruments. The various instruments information was displayed through posters and presentations.

Workshop and Training on ‘Infusion Pumps’

Smiths Medical Company conducted the workshop on creating awareness and generating knowledge about instruments like syringes, blood infusion warmer, patient warmer and transport ventilators. It is a leading global provider of medical devices for the hospital, emergency, home and specialist environments.

A seminar for the final year students was conducted by Dr. Prof. Anjali Deshpande, Head of the Electronics Department, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. The format, requirements and approach on writing a technical paper was explained in the seminar.

Seminar on ‘Eagle PCB Design Software’

Prof. Shrikant Velankar, Chief Academic Officer, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology conducted the seminar to create an awareness of the use of EAGLE software for designing of PCB.
