In addition to being a Professor and heading the Department of Management Studies, I also handle the position of Chief Operations Officer at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. This task involves looking into the operations of the Institute, supervising the routine accounts, Student Council activities, and other related campus events.

Prior to my career at Vidyalankar, I used to work as the Director of leading Management Institutes in Mumbai. I have been actively involved in the field of finance and financial services marketing, with various leading Corporate Houses, with major stints at National Film Development Corporation as the Production Controller – Film Finance and HDFC Asset Management Company, heading the Retail Channel. Learning never stops and that is what happened with me. I had an opportunity to do an Executive Program at the IIM - Ahmedabad. Whilst in the corporate sector, for 14 years, I was involved in several teaching and training roles for the University of Mumbai, Symbiosis International University, NMIMS University and University of Pune, as a Visiting Faculty and Guest Speaker. I have been researching and consulting in media and film finance ventures along with leading personalities in the industry - Jabbar Patel, Ajit Bhure, Aditi Mulgund, Sanjay Narvekar, and Sunil Barve to name a few. I have developed and conducted customized training and teaching modules for investors and distributors during my career in the corporate sector. It is aptly said that “good teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths theatre.” Teaching and training others made me realize that I am gifted with the innate skills of imparting knowledge and mentoring which can be a very interesting area to explore and venture into.

Post my career stint in the business development and marketing of financial services, I forayed into the academic field, teaching courses like Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Mutual Funds, Wealth Management and Marketing of Financial Services to students of postgraduate programs in Management. I am a recognized Ph.D. Guide at the University of Mumbai and an Associate Guide at a couple of other Universities. Four research scholars have completed Doctorate studies under my guidance and four more scholars are currently pursuing doctoral studies under my supervision.

Passionate about the theatre and films, I have participated in theatre as an actor and also took up backstage responsibilities for more than 2500 professional and amateur performances in India and abroad. I feel that my experience of being on stage has immensely helped me to understand the power of audio-visual communication.

The leadership and management skills were imbibed by me as a result of my grooming during my school and college days. I was appointed as the General Secretary of the D.G. Ruparel College and the Cultural Secretary of University of Mumbai during the Academic Year 1990-91. In the same year, I was awarded the “Best Student” of the D.G. Ruparel College.

I am as comfortable working in teams as I am in working independently, and I believe that good communication skills play a vital role in this. I visualize my role as providing students with a window into the real world that exists outside the classroom and developing skills that they can implement in real life. As a teacher, it is my goal to transform the learner’s view, and to make it more application oriented.
