Born in a modest farmer family in a small village near Nagpur, India, I inherited the value of education in shaping one’s life from my father, who was the first postgraduate from our village. Being a college professor by profession, he saw to it that I along with two elder siblings completed our education even with meager resources available at his disposal. With his constant encouragement and support, I could complete my engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Nagpur University. After teaching engineering diploma and degree students for around six years, my journey of education is continued and I completed MTech.(Industrial Drives and Control) and Ph.D. from Nagpur University. Of course, along with my sheer dedication and hard work, the active support of my husband and my parents is also noteworthy. My research work is published in Elsevier’s reputed journal- “Journal of Process Control (JPC)”, which is ranked in top 50 SCI indexed journals in the world.

My areas of research interest include Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives, Electronic Instrumentation and Measurement, Control System, Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic. I have taught subjects related to these fields and guided students for successful completion of their projects. I have always encouraged my students for publishing their work in reputed journals or conferences.

I am a strong believer that knowledge of science and technology gained through education and research should be applied in real world for the benefit of mankind. With this philosophy in mind, I have been actively involved in industry-institute partnership, industrial visits and organizing talks by industry experts for igniting the minds of young student engineers of our institute. I have successfully organized industrial visits to companies/institutes like L&T Infotech, ERTL to name a few.

I have also worked as a convener/ co-convener for symposiums and workshops held in our institute. This enabled us to share latest state of the art knowledge. Recently, I worked as a convener for the workshop titled “Electronic Product Design” where academic experts from IIT, Bombay and entrepreneurs in the business of manufacturing new electronic products shared their valuable insights on the subject.

I have also authored a book titled “Advanced Power Electronics” which is in the process of publishing and shall soon be available for students.

In addition to teaching, I am also interested in Indian Movies, Hindi songs and Poetry as well. I like to spend my weekends in gardening, shopping and culinary insights much to the delight of my family and especially to my daughter.
