My journey into the teaching profession has a very close resemblance to Philosopher Lao Tzu’s famous quote, “A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step”. Born and brought up in a family with close association to the teaching fraternity, securing distinction in Class X and XII made it look like a mandated option. I completed my graduation in Computer Engineering with Distinction and also got an offer for the position of Associate Consultant Post by leading IT company, Capgemini through campus placement. I however, opted for doing my post-graduation to facilitate me pursue the teaching profession.

My teaching at VIT started with my sessions on System Programming and Compiler Construction, Database Management System, Theory of Computer Science, Web Designing and Enterprise Resource Planning. My methodology was very simple. “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” In Computer Science, this can be executed only by constantly motivating the students to learn new things and apply them on their projects. I personally take interest and get actively involved in working with each one of them. Selection of one of my project groups in Smart Indian Hackathon Project competition organized by MHRD and AICTE has always been a memorable moment for me and my students. Some other domains where I have developed my research interest of late are Data Analysis, Data Science and Machine Learning. One of my groups had published paper in IEEE conferences named Behavior Analysis using Serverless Machine Learning.

Over and above academics, I have also shouldered responsible positions in the past like Student Branch Coordinator, CSI (Computer Society of India) for 5 years from 2012-2017. As recognition of my service and accomplishments during my tenure I was awarded the Best Accredited Student Branch Award in 2014, 2016 and 2017. Under this banner, I had organized many technical events like Workshop, Seminar, Inter-college competitions etc. Presently, being Computer Engineering Student Association Convener, I had organized Google Study Jam, wherein I was able to tie up my Institute with different Technical communities like PyData Community, Firebase Community etc.

Apart from teaching and learning process, I spend my free time effectively by indulging in music and reading. Being a trained Bharatanatyam dancer has taught me the importance of self -discipline in life. I also love to spend time with family and friends and to explore new places and culture which in my opinion helps me to interact with students coming from varied backgrounds.

Summarizing myself, a teacher, I strongly feel that the art of teaching is the art of self-discovery. With this thought in mind, I work with complete dedication to help my students to bring out the best in them and enable them to face the ever-growing challenges of Industry and life alike.
