I belong to Dhule a city interior in Maharashtra with hassle free life style mostly focused on agriculture , with only one English convent school at that time. It was my mother’s dream that I should learn in an English medium school, which she had missed. I definitely stand to her expectations by always being in top five. The dream of engineering was by looking at my grandfather; always saw him drawing layouts and plans for different types of building. In spite of getting admission in reputed college in Pune, financially it was not possible for my parents, so I completed my engineering studies in SSVP’S COE in Dhule. People used to ask my parents “By making you daughter engineer, what job she will do?” As very few girls did engineering. We had only one female faculty. With excellent grades after completion of engineering, the same college offered me a teaching job and this was the beginning of my teaching career with many challenges. With the passion for learning I completed my Masters from Mumbai University with highest marks in Antenna and systems subject, considering this I had opportunity to work at SAMMER IIT Mumbai, under the guidance of scientist for my Master’s project on antenna design.
Along with teaching different subjects, I have developed a laboratory for antenna and microwaves. My passion for learning continued with a strong desire to do research in a foreign university, and I am also very fond of traveling as it gives opportunities to learn and grow, along with dedication. It gives us the chance to be engaged in an activity, to develop new skills, and to discover new cultures. In my opinion, one should “learn to fly and fly to learn”. I believe technology should be environmentally friendly. My dream came true when I worked for six months at Massey University, New Zealand, where the research focused on environment-related issues. Under the guidance of eminent professors, the research outcome resulted in many publications and an Indian Patent published in the Journal of Indian Patents. On the professional front, I have served as a committee member for an international conference in China. As an IEEE member, I have also been a session chair at international conferences.
My fields of interest include Sensors and Sensing Technology, Wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things, microwaves and Antenna design, etc. I have reviewed international research proposals and research papers at various international conferences as a contribution to the research community. Student project groups under my guidance have published papers and also received the best paper award at different international conferences. The importance of research publication is inculcated in the students under my guidance. Students thus work towards innovations and show their keen interest in filing patents. One of the project groups working on sensor design has come up with an innovative design and has filed a patent. For the project problem statements, I believe one should solve the problems faced by us in our day-to-day life with the help of environmentally friendly technology. Collaboration facilitates the exchange of knowledge and technology, which motivates me to collaborate with eminent universities and professors; one of them is Macquarie University, Australia.
I like listening to music, reading research articles, and watching movies. I am passionate about traveling in India and abroad. I am always very enthusiastic about sitting along the seashore as it gives me a calming effect on the mind.
