Technical Activities

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE-VIT) a professional body and Electronics Engineering Students Association (EESA-VIT), internal students’ body are non-profit making Student Chapters run by the students.

Our Student Chapter won IEEE Bombay Section’s Best Student Chapter of the Year Award for the 2014-15 tenure and we were also among the 11 nominees for IEEE India Council’s Outstanding Student Chapter Award for the same period.

IEEE-VIT have also organised a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop at local schools through which poor and underprivileged children were exposed to the various tricks and technology. The following are some of our most significant activities of the department BizzNext: An entrepreneurship & finance symposium organized by IEEE VIT, E-yantra workshop: an interactive workshop on E-yantra, a national level robotics competition held in Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai., Python and Web Crawler Workshop: A hands-on workshop introducing students to web crawling using Python, IRIS: IRIS which stands for Inspire, Resonate, Integrate and Succeed is IEEE-VIT’s flagship event in which we hold a series of inspiring talks by non-technical speakers who have achieved some remarkable milestone in their field.

Students Projects

Department of Electronics Engineering firmly believes that Project-based learning is the key to effectively engage students in technical activities develop technical mindset and provide practical solutions to real-life problems. In its constant endeavour to carry out quality projects, the project team of the department has a very well-defined plan to integrate Project Based Learning (PBL) in all its courses.

Internships

Department of Electronics Engineering provides a pool of In-House Internships to Students in variety of domains, that can provide solutions to the real life problems. The problems are designed such that they help the students to improve programming skills as well as their hands-on experience. Students are guided to use the tools and techniques relevant to the current industry trends. Recent ideas that have been implemented by our students are based the use of on Arduino, Embedded Systems, IOT and many other development platforms. On an average 70-80 % of the students are involved in the internship activities. We also encourage internships at various industries. To name a few are TIFR, BARC, Mazagon Dock Ltd, BSNL, Doordarshan, BRIT, L&T, Indian railways, IIT Bombay, Bharat Petroleum, Mercedez Benz and many more.

Internships are thus a regular feature of the curriculum, where students spend their time constructively and from the feedbacks received, it is an enriching experience for them, which adds value to their engineering education.
